The Path of Mastery

The following typical threads that plague martial arts sites will get moved here if not just deleted: 1 - My style is better than Your style" - 2 - "Internal & External" - 3 - Personal attacks - 4 - Threads that start well, but degenerate into a spiral of nonsense.

Its no "style". They practice mostly modern short forms and push hands. And they practice to compete. Its a kind of wushu-dimsum-sushi-mcdojo-mix and they have many students. You can say that it is not the best or a very traditional approach. But then, remember that everybody eats at McDonalds as well . . .

It's "courageous heart". See the other "5 steps" of mastery for another round of laughter.

When Andy_S and I start our qigong/tai QI cult we will have this guy beat by a mile. We will invent a whole subsystem for each of the 64 gua of the Yi Jing. That idea has already been copyrighted, patented, and trademarked. Each subsystem will have a 5-element variation and each variation can be expressed through each of the 13 TaiQI postures. Patented, copyrighted, and trademarked. Suckas.

Nice. He had about 600 vids in Dec '07, and it's over 1000 now... The guy's been busy!

I can totally see this working with tai chi moves too -- talking about tranquility, deadliness and other great things.

Master Gohring is in Austin, TX and I believe he usually attends the Taiji Legacy every year.

I'd love to know who bestowed the title "master" on him.

Well, duh-h-h-h! He did, of course. :D It's an advertising and marketing strategy, don't ya know? This man has long since become a legend in his own mind. ::)

Of course. What I was really getting at is, I wonder what answer the master himself would give to that question...

It shouldn't be too scary to own up to it. After all, the path of self mastery requires a courageous heart. The courageous heart shows strength in the face of fear. :)
