It's kind of hard to brainwash people who don't care. Other than the 5 Americans on this thread I haven't heard any American born American even bring the subject up and I talk to all kinds of people all day about all kinds of stuff and I listen to tons of talk radio and hella podcasts, with the exception of political junkie nerds (like us) this is a non-issue. Most people are thinking about how they will spend their summer. For better or worse, that's what's up.

As far as Twitter followers, yes I believe it's a Chinese or some Asian company that you can pay to receive thousands of fake followers, celebrities are known for using this service.

Although personally, I don't think this effects the Crim in any way not to mention both parties are for the most part united on this issue. But for the rest of the country the missing plane stole all the attention, then again international news never did sell well in the US.

The latest bizarro world pronouncement from Inner Party Member Kerry. He seems shocked about his accusations that Russia has not acted according to the recent meeting in Geneva. Funny, I don't remember Kerry's outrage when the late February meeting that he, France, and Germany guaranteed was completely disregarded.

Kerry refers here also to Putin's "fantasy". Great diplomat, this Kerry.
