Nope, "simple" and "easy" are two very different things. E.g. playing violin is a very simple activity, yet it is obviously very far from being easy (unless you've practiced it for a long time).

And, in this context, "simple" referred to "suggestions", meaning there is some very complex and elaborate "suggestive" work out there (e.g. with hypnotherapy) that would be a lot more involved and "less simple" than, for example, just startling someone/causing them to pass out, especially after they have been properly conditioned/prepared mentally, and are a willing participant.
