Okay this is all going the wrong way now ....Magicians doing Martial Arts... Shawn - I match you with Dr. George Salusbury

http://cosmicfighting.741.com/origins.html

The following is an article that appeared in the November 22, 2004 issue of the Marquette Weekly. The writer, Martin Fox, often writes humorous, cynical pieces for the paper. Nonetheless, I invited Fox to come to my class to do an article, hoping he will be changed. Judging from the title of the article, he still was cynical, but overall, the article came out satisfactory. - George Salusbury

Missing Man Teaches Karate He Learned From E.T.

By Martin Fox, Staff Writer

At the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, on weekends, a rather peculiar group gathers to train in the martial arts. This is not just any ordinary Karate class for the head instructor, George Salusbury, claims he learned his craft from aliens. On May 24, 1976, George Salusbury was reported missing to the Marquette County Sheriff Department. Many of his friends and family members thought he was dead when all of a sudden, on August 15, 1988, Salusbury showed up out of nowhere. Where was he for these 11 years? According, to Salusbury, he was abducted by a flying saucer and spent those years on the aliens' planet.

"While on the visitors' planet, they taught me innumerable things including the philosophy of the universe and the martial art known as Grand Celestial Do" said Salusbury

The infamous little grey men with large black eyes told Salusbury to spread this martial art to all Earthlings, Salusbury alleges. In the class, stood about 40 people, half of them women, all not dressed in any special uniforms, but in regular exercise clothes-- mostly sweatpants and t-shirts. At exactly 9:00 A.M., the members stood at attention, when Salusbury walks in at the front of the class wearing a long silver robe and a medallion around his neck. The class members raised one leg up in the air, raised both hands in the air, and wiggled their fingers. Then they bowed down on all fours toward Salusbury. Later, I learned this was the Grand Celestial Do's form of respectful greeting.

Salusbury takes off his medallion and silver robe, revealing regular black exercise clothing underneath and puts the robe and medallion on a life size mannequin of an alien at the corner of the class room.

For the next hour, Salusbury leads the class on a rather bizarre meditative exercise where the class does all sorts of circular body movements while making all sorts of ear-wrenching moans and screams that had me wanting to dial 911 because I was sure some of them were suffering from an aneurism. Every two minutes, the class members would raise their arms and look up to the ceiling as to draw power from somewhere in the sky.

After a ten minute break, the class returned. This time, the class resembled more like a regular Karate class with the class breaking up into groups, practicing punches, kicks, and elbows, some in thin air, some using focus mitts. It started to get really interesting when Salusbury came up to me and asked me to do something to him. He outstretched one arm and asked me to pull his arm down with both my hands. Using all my strength, I try to push his arm down. I was not able to do so. Now though Salusbury may be a man in his 50's, he still looked strong. Now this is where it gets beyond interesting. He asked a class member to outstretch her arm. The class member was a petite blonde lady, perhaps about 5'1 and 105 pound. Once again, Salusbury asked me to pull her arm down. Using both arms, I pushed and pulled, but was unable to budge her. It was remarkable. She felt stiff as a stone

I left the class feeling somewhat dumbfounded. Now I'm not claiming I'm convinced that Salusbury has been abducted by E.T. and was taught by some alien version of Pat Morita the art of Martian Karate. However, there was something funny going on in that class whether it be some form of self-hypnosis or physical trickery.

I later did my research with the Marquette County Sheriff County Department, and they did confirm that George Salusbury was reported missing for 11 years by his parents. In their investigation, they encountered rumors that Salusbury had joined a religious cult and was living in Canada all this time. They even speculated that Salusbury may have suffered amnesia and was wandering aimlessly as a homeless man.

Salusbury asserts, "The rumors that I joined a religious cult are ridiculous, since there isn't any evidence to back this up. I would never leave my friends and family like that. I wasn't even on the face of this earth."

When I asked him how the trying to pull the arm down trick was done, Salusbury responded, "The secret is both complex and obvious. We learned to channel energy from space. With this energy, we can become invincible. We would be able to do just about anything. Grand Celestial Do teaches us peace and to use our skills only for defending that which is impure. When the impurity is gone from the earth, then we will have a perfect society that the aliens intended us to have. "

Though Salusbury's claims seem far-fetched, someone seems to believe Salusbury's story. He was able to get a publisher to publish two of his books-- one is an instructional book detailing his alien martial art, the other is a nonfiction biographical tale of the 11 years he spent on the aliens' planet.

Whether you are a UFO buff or someone suffering from boredom and wish to get a jolt, you may want to visit one of Salusbury's classes. You may come away from it with more than you expected like I have.

Well, how would that be any different from the tales of the Chinese and Japanese Masters, who claimed that they learned their arts from demons, gods, spirits, and badgers?

Why is he wearing kid gloves?

Is it so that he doesn't get his spectral acidic radiation all over his partner?
