Very cool; thanks.
This morning the sky was finally clear enough and I was able to keep my eye on the (ridiculously bright these days) Venus, and watch it until well after the sunrise, with the sun being way up and too bright to look at, and yet Venus still being visible to my naked (and rapidly aging
) eye,
and despite having to twist my neck looking up and compensate for the shaking while running. Last sighting was at 7:42; the sunrise was at 7:23. If I was standing still, would probably see it for another couple minutes. Just amazing. For reference, Sirius (the brightest star of our hemisphere), which happens to be hanging out relatively close to Venus these days, was long gone
before the sunrise. I guess there's a reason they're calling it "morning star", eh...
And then, of course, if we zoom in a bit...:
Just freakin' mind-boggling stuff.
Anyway...
It reminded me again that the planets, stars, galaxies and what-have-you are all still up there during the day, even if it's too bright to see them.
Something that I find easily forgotten/overlooked in general during the day (due to that "out of sight, out of mind" thing that human brains do)...
