Moy Lin Shin

The following typical threads that plague martial arts sites will get moved here if not just deleted: 1 - My style is better than Your style" - 2 - "Internal & External" - 3 - Personal attacks - 4 - Threads that start well, but degenerate into a spiral of nonsense.

There is a group in Canberra, and one time a few years ago when I was doing my fitness trainer course, a classmate organised for them to come and give an introductory class. I really didn't like it. Non martial and non marital ;) and the instructor wouldn't stop talking about the founder. He was a bit too gushing, and super earnest (like, intense). It was a bit hippie-ish, as well.
The form was modified from YCF long form, but apparently the "martial" aspects were taken out, and the "health" aspects of the form were improved.

During the lesson my heart was breaking, but I'm sure there are heaps of people who might get some benefit from it. It might give your brains some washing too.

But I'm probably biased.

I guess people always have the need to follow some person/idea as a pack.

But hey, this is still WAY better than having this sort of thing happening on a global scale, where the entire country's political and social structure is like that...

well, i found it odd that someone promoting an art claiming it for health and longevity would die so young.

according to dr dyer, there is no such thing as stress. we create it and cultivate it all by ourselves.

This is also in holding with Ch'an precepts.

I tend to agree and find that I can quickly alleviate many of my own personal stresses by simply not regarding them as such.

There are myriad things you cannot regulate or control in your life. Don't be frustrated, let them go. Be sad if you must, but all things pass into the abyss.

:)

mmmmm all things passing.

That's easy to say when you don't have cancer. People can still say it-- and mean it-- when they DO have cancer, but it takes on a little different flavor than when someone is young and healthy.

Many people increase their ailment through their negative thought forms.
Cancer can be devastating, but it can also be beaten.

Acceptance of the reality of death is also helpful.
People amplify their suffering quite often.

cancer is the same as a bullet from afar. It could happen, it is slower than a bullet, but the end result is the same, but then, teh end result is always the same, so full circle back to acceptance of the reality that dictates that each of us will die.

Many people who have fatal diseases are in a position that the rest of us aren't.
They know they are going to die soon.

Now that can be a sad thing, or it can be a clarion call. It is entirely up to the person and each individuals experience may differ.

Darth,

I agree with you. I'm just saying I deal with some people with some pretty fucked-up health situations on a regular basis, and while it's all fine and good to apply philosophy in our own lives, no one has the right to tell anyone else how to deal with their own adversity. Each and every one of us does absolutely the best that we can with what we are given, even if it may not seem that way to others.

You've not said anything to indicate you tell others how to live, so I'm just speaking in generalizations-- it's not directed at you at all.
