this is why i want Stephen Yan back

The following typical threads that plague martial arts sites will get moved here if not just deleted: 1 - My style is better than Your style" - 2 - "Internal & External" - 3 - Personal attacks - 4 - Threads that start well, but degenerate into a spiral of nonsense.

Anybody here who knows anything about Qian zhaohong will have a very hard time believing that story. Thats the thing..Yan manages to sneak in big names in his stories, and always puts them down or says hes better. Yan is better than P....P is equal to Qian.....Qian has no wu de...means Yan is better than Qian in skill and in wu de?

Ridiculous.

SFM,

Stop it. Seriously, just stop. All these old stories and fables are fun to read but you put way to much weight on them. Just practice your art and forget about all the legends. Yeah they are fun to read but they are just stories for Christsakes. I promise you, no matter how many times you read about a master jumping in the air to catch a bird or pushing people onto rooftops you will never be able to do that because they couldn't either. Just stop with the BS and practice.

did you read my example at all? it was nothing like that. i totally agree w/ you about the fairy tales. i had a bagua teacher who told me his master's master knew qing gong and could jump up to a second story balcony. no way. not him, not dong haichuan himself.

but i dig stories about well known (or not so well known) guys entering tournments and having surprise results or stories of documents found in old glass shops and things of this nature.
if it doesn't make sense, it's because I'm "typing" with Swype or using android's voice to text, which is pretty damn good by the way

that's good because if you even skimmed it and then admonished me about catching birds and floating on to rooftops, that would make you a bit of an imbecile.

i guess it's better to have fewer manners than brains in some instances.

I do not want to get into any discussion on Dr Yan as far I am concerned it is water under the bridge.

Bryn as far as I know is some 16 year old kid that contacted me (most probably told to by Dr Yan) about Dai Xin Yi Quan and wanted to come learn from me. I refuse to take any students of Dr Yan's and made very clear if anyone wanted to learn the basics (that is all I teach) of Dai, that they would have to stop learning from him, due to 2 main reasons. One is of course just the tradition of learning from one teacher and the other is, the Dai he teaches is not the same as what master Yan Long Chang teaches (it has elements of xylhq in it), which will cause no progress to the student who follows this path.

{Edit] After reading my reply, I thought I'd better erase it and apologize. I don't want to get into personal attacks and such as that is pretty weak.
SFM I apologize for my frustration. I'll adhere to the advise that is often posted here..."if you don't like a thread then don't read it."
