One of the most interesting things about that thread is the fact that so many of the trolls who are regularly abusive and insulting in their posts were drawn to the topic like moths to a flame for memorable encore performances.

But they did so with a delectably defiant, balls to the walls attitude which essentially dared the Moderators to make them stop, thus proving once again that their behavior is consciously intended and maliciously executed.

I have to admit, though, that their collective communication skills and impeccably egalitarian sense of personal diplomacy left me feeling incredibly awed and humbled to say the least.

I don't know about that. It seems too simplistic. There's got to be a better explanation for certain group tactics than just status if those activities put all its participants on the same level.
