Meetup with Dr. Fish in SF Bay Area

Postby Syena on Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:47 pm

Dr. Fish said he would be coming to the SF Bay Area sometime this year, and would be happy to teach a small group seminar-type thing. I've been following the "Feck Qi" and "Jibengong" threads, and it seems like it would be a good opportunity to pick up on some of those fundamental jibengong first-hand from a qualified teacher. I'm interested (schedule and budget permitting); anybody else interested? No details as yet from Dr. Fish, perhaps he will pipe in at some point and let us know.

Also, he mentioned that a few of the forum members have had a session like this with him before. Anybody who has care to share with us their experience?

Would be very interested if I can get (and afford) the time off from work. I missed his last visit and also John Wang's visit due to work... :(

I would love to! I just recently moved to SF (though not from very far away), and am still trying to make connections in the IMA community in the area.

I will definitely give sufficient advance notice - I will probably be in SF both on my way to and on my way back from Taiwan and China in August and September - but I may be out as early as June also.

The usual suspects should feel free to comment on my last teaching session - good, bad or indifferent.

The sledge hammer and kua work were great. The tales told during beer drinking were also fantastic.

Your generosity in teaching was very much appreciated.

Looking forward to seeing you again.

I had a great time - and this time I will be in better health, so I should be able to demonstrate more.

Excellent! For those who were there for the sledge hammer exercises - bring them. Also - bring two bricks per attendee (they are cheap and more useful than dumbells for our purposes) and two long neck type wine or whiskey bottles (empty) - oeniphiles refer to these as "mallet shaped" bottles - these will serve as cheap Indian clubs (which you can later slowly fill with shot or sand). Somebody bring a wide mouth large jar (like a commercial mayonaise jar), and a couple of empty laundry detergent bottles (the kind with the handle grip - these will serve as cheap "stone lock" weights). A couple of thick spear shafts, and a pastrami on rye. Cut thin, with deli mustard.

Just kidding about the sandwich.

After the class. Eating something like that before or during would be suicidal. And I am planning on heading over to the Chinese Moslem restaurant near Stonestown on one of those days as well.

I was told there was a Chinese Moslem noodle house near Stonestown - but those pictures border on pornography for me.......I think that place is a good bet

Syena, count me in I'm definitely interested especially after reading the threads and what Dr. Fish has talked about. I'm sure the
jibengong is gonna make me cry like a baby but it'll be worth it. Thanks for doing this Dr. Fish.
