brutal.
reminds me of ppl who preach and expound how the art of grappling is superior to striking.
... yes of course you are telling me how you are not able to transmit your force out of your body

oh yeah, that check to the leg will work every time if you have an opponent that does not have the vaguest how to judgment distance.

let me know again when you've had enough of ground rolling man massages.
end rant.

I'm sure Bones Jones never trains any ground work...

Anyway, sweet highlight. JJ is a monster. I can't imagine trying to deal with that. Thanks for the vid.

I think it's a good clip to study and watch how he manages not to get tangled up on the floor. Like I say no matter what position striking is for finishing fights, submission is for saying you win. I think instead of tap outs, they should just find a way to immobilize the limb that caused the tap and allow them to continue til the end. Or deduct points, with a three tap rule. I think we will see an end to grappling as we know it.

What are you talking about? Choking someone unconscious doesn't finish a fight?

Oh come on man, that's just arguing for the sake of arguing. -argh- everyone knows a choke is a kill. Goes without saying -shrug- something you may not have noticed, but that choke didn't happen on the floor 8-)

Correct me if wrong, I think it may be called 翻花袖舞/Fan Hua Wu Xiu.
It is an deadly elbow strike, unfortunately the application was dead after some guy died in Chen family,
only few got grasp it. Professor Wen Jingming was one of them.

Yes I believe you're right. I said shan tong bei as these moves follow each other in the form and sometimes I forget where one stops and the other begins as they flow one into the other

He just walks right through his opponents. It's hard to believe that there are always higher levels of athleticism.

Btw, he was actually DQed for that one where's he's elbowing his opponent from the mount. You can't elbow someone straight down from the mount because there's no way to defend yourself from it.

Call me old school, call me a Chi hugger, call me whatever you want. Subduing someone by a punch or kick is an art. Standing over him and beating him is not. I just can't warm up to this stuff.

Allen, unless you are a long bearded, white-haired, Taoist hermit of the highest even mystical level, get used to it, it is what art looks like in a fight.

Yet it's actually a lot more difficult. Striking can be picked up very quickly in comparison to grappling. Perhaps that's one thing to keep in mind or you can think of it as street fighting as a sport. It's not for everybody. But in truth the best guys today can do it all, which is a feat in itself.

Dragon,

Is the "ground and pound" what the art looks like in a fight? It appears to me to be a condition of fighting in a ring with rules that require submission. Most of these fighters, once having been knocked down with the blows we see here, are unable to continue being the aggressor in a fight. In my version of the art, that means it's over.
