His balance is gone because he does not have cross-body connection, thus his mass is committed to one side of his body, instead of being "balanced" between his right shoulder and left hip/foot, and left shoulder to right hip/foot. When his left foot is off the ground, it should be "full" from his right shoulder/hand; when his right foot is off the ground, it should be "full" from his left shoulder/hand. That is the purpose of shiko: to develop that dynamic.
