Example? This guy disarmed a shooter, and then the police arrived and shot him.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ooter.html

Tony Garces was still reeling from his injuries on Tuesday, nearly two weeks after he disarmed a possible church shooter in Amarillo, Texas — and was then shot by police.

Speaking to NBC News by phone from his hospital room at Heart Hospital of Northwest Texas, Garces, 54, said that he was admitted to the emergency room on Monday with a blood clot in his lung.

On the morning of Feb. 14 — the same day as the Florida school shooting that killed 17 kids and teachers — Garces wrestled a handgun away from a man who had entered the chapel at Faith City Mission and threatened to hold church attendees hostage.

But a responding officer fired at Garces, striking him twice — once in the back and once above his collar bone, his lawyer, Jeff Blackburn, said in an interview.
"I don't know how that punctured a lung but it did," Blackburn said.

In a Feb. 14 statement, the Amarillo Police Department appeared to confirm Garces' account, saying an initial investigation determined that police fired at a man who'd disarmed a would-be hostage taker in a church with 100 people in its chapel.

That suspect, identified in a separate statement as Joshua Len Jones, 35, was booked on six charges of aggravated kidnapping.

Madison's original first draft of the second ammendment back when there was no standing army.

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed, and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country; but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms, shall be compelled to render military service in person.”

Example? Today.
http://www.securityinfowatch.com/news/1 ... police-say

ATLANTA — A North Georgia teacher, known as the longtime radio voice of Dalton High School football and basketball, is in custody after he fired at least one shot inside a classroom, police said.

The incident at Dalton High School, about 91 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, sent panicked students running through hallways and alarmed parents already on edge in the wake of a mass shooting Feb. 14 at a Florida high school.

About 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, some students tried to get into Randal Davidson’s classroom and he would not let them in, Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier said.

They alerted the principal. When the principal came to the door and used his key to try to open it, Davidson forcibly closed it on him, Frazier said.

At that point, the principal heard a gunshot. Police have not said what type of gun was used, only that it was a handgun.

“We had officers inside the building quickly,” Frazier said.

Officers evacuated a hallway and secured the area first.

During the evacuation, a female student was hurt, police said. That student is being treated by emergency officials for an ankle injury.

After about 30 to 45 minutes, authorities were able to get Davidson to surrender.

“I don’t believe we’ve had any dealings with him before,” Frazier said.

Davidson, a 53-year-old social studies teacher, has been at Dalton High since 2004. In 2012, he was recognized as the school’s top teacher, according to the district, which wrote about his non-traditional path to teaching in a profile that year.

If you duckduckgo it you will see several incidents of teachers "mis-firing" their guns at school.

Was watching DT at a news conference today and guess what, he showed some leadership qualities. Had several suggestions, some of which will piss off the NRA and came far short of what democrats wanted but made some progress. Is aware of public opinion and trying to appear to be the 'good guy'

He is a reality TV star and other than being in the lucky sperm club not really much more than that. I have s feeling that it was all an act in hopes that something else will dominate the news cycle and everyone will move in until the next big school shooting.

Oops, oh well, accidents happen. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/14/hi ... olice.html

Today in “This is exactly why schools should be gun-free zones” news, a Seaside, Calif., teacher—who is also a reserve police officer, mind you—somehow accidentally fired a gun inside a local high school classroom on Tuesday, injuring three students.

What makes this even more depressing? The incident occurred during a course about gun safety.

According to KSBW-TV, Dennis Alexander was leading the Administration of Justice class at Seaside High School when his firearm went off at about 1:20 p.m. Alexander was pointing the weapon to the ceiling when it went off, causing pieces of the ceiling to fall to the floor.

The Seaside Police Department confirmed that while no one suffered “serious injuries,” one 17-year-old boy suffered “moderate” injuries after fragments from the bullet ricocheted off the ceiling and hit his neck.

Alexander had, in fact, told the class that he wanted to make sure the gun wasn’t loaded when it went off, Fermin Gonzales, the father of the injured teen, told the news station.

“It’s the craziest thing. It could have been very bad,” Gonzales said.

What was really crazy was that after the gun went off, Alexander apparently apologized and went on doing what he was doing. No one at the school, according to Gonzales, checked to make sure that everyone was OK. So you can imagine how shocked the Gonzales family was when the teen returned home with blood on his shirt and bullet fragments in his neck. His parents had to rush him to the hospital to be examined.

“He’s shaken up, but he’s going to be OK,” Gonzales told KSBW. “I’m just pretty upset that no one told us anything and we had to call the police ourselves to report it.”

Alexander was placed on administrative leave from his teaching position at the high school as well as with the Sand City, Calif., Police Department.

“I have concerns about why he was displaying a loaded firearm in a classroom. We will be looking into that,” Sand City Police Chief Brian Ferrante told KSBW.

Not to mention that in California, teachers are not allowed to have firearms in classrooms, even if they do have a concealed carry permit.

This all went on the day before the National Student Walkout, with students marching for their very lives, demanding new gun laws ... and while lawmakers are debating arming teachers and having more “trained” individuals—like Alexander, I bet—to keep students ... safe?

Right.

Oh, I should also mention that a similar incident occurred the same exact day on the East Coast at a Virginia school.

In this scenario, another “trained professional,” a school resource officer, somehow accidentally fired his gun inside a middle school in Alexandria. The shot was fired as the officer, a five-year veteran of the Alexandria Police Department, was sitting down in his office, according to NBC Washington.

“I just think it was an accident that happened, and we’re going to investigate it and find out, and we’re going to move forward,” Capt. D.C. Hayes said.

At least in this case, the officer checked the area for any injuries and confirmed that everyone in the school was OK.

Of course, in light of this, the head of the Alexandria school system, interim Superintendent Lois Berlin, voiced her concern about arming teachers.

“We had this happen with someone who’s a highly trained officer. I think that speaks for itself,” Berlin said.

Parents, naturally, agree.

“We’re talking about arming teachers, and even the security personnel that are trained can’t seem to make it work,” one parent told the news station.
