Darth, I think you're not quite getting what people are pointing out. There's nothing at all wrong with the cat stance when it's done correctly, but in that first pic the guy's knee alignment is seriously wrong. His right knee (the one bearing the weight) is collapsing inward, putting it in a weak position, overstretching the tendons on the inner side and compacting the cartilege on the outer side. He just needs to pull that knee outward so it points in the same direction as the toe of that same foot, instead of pointing off at a different angle.
When looked at from a frontal angle, hip, knee and foot should all be in the same vertical line.
