Wu Ming has slight negative connotations in Chinese. For example the phrase 师出无名 means deploying army without just cause :)

Hmm, on second thought, I take that back. Everyone knows "the forum that can be named is not the true/persistent forum" :)

comrade, you've got to be kidding me...

The proverb was already in wide use during the Warring States period (475-221BC). I thought that its misappropriation by an infamous bastard might offer an interesting parallel to our present situation. ;)

his name is also wuming, originally his name was hero.
a young artist create this very iconic character with very kickass skill and the co he was working for exercised "copyright"
so the young artist had to call him nameless after that
of course being without name did not affect wuming's skill at all; as you can see from above

Wu Ming sounds pretty tight too, given the backstory. :)

HAHAHAA Strange got my irony with wuming!!! I didn't think anyone else would get it...bahaha.

we will actually likely have wuming in our banner soon actually. ;)

the real story is this:
ma rong cheng (ma wing shing) was a no name artist, and made this comic called zhong hua ying xiong (called Blood Sword and Blood Sword Dynasty in english), where the main character's name was Hua Ying Xiong (a pun on "Chinese Hero")

he was hands down the best artist in all HK comics. he wanted his name on the comic. the publisher (jademan, huang yu lang) refused. so he quit. jademan being a mobster, sent people to beat up Ma. Ma went on to start his own comic, tian xia hua ji, aka feng yun, aka Stormriders, which has gone on to become the best selling comic in HK of all time. After like a few issues of the comic, when it started, Ma brought Hero back into his comic, and just called him Wuming (nameless). even brought his servants in under slightly different names. even his sword style was the "nameless" sword style. his sword, while it still looked just like Hua Ying Xiong's original "dragonspring sword" (long quan jian), was renamed "Hero sword" (ying xiong jian), after the original character's name. :D
