When you teach solo form before application, will your students be able to understand what you are trying to teach?

Here are few examples of solo drills. Without application, it's difficult for students to understand what a teacher is trying to teach.

Your thought?

as a learner I'd rather learn the application then there's motivation to work through the form of it to smooth it out

there are some exceptions maybe in the very beginning such as punch the air (kind of a form), punch a bag (still kind of a form), a simple 1-step 2-person drill (not quite an application).

I think your question is a marketing one, as it is easy to coach students if they have a clear training objective.
