You mean:

1 Accept everything just the way it is.
2 Do not seek pleasure for its own sake.
3 Do not, under any circumstances, depend on a partial feeling.
4 Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.
5 Be detached from desire your whole life long.
6 Do not regret what you have done.
7 Never be jealous.
8 Never let yourself be saddened by a separation.
9 Resentment and complaint are appropriate neither for oneself or others.
10 Do not let yourself be guided by the feeling of lust or love.
11 In all things have no preferences.
12 Be indifferent to where you live.
13 Do not pursue the taste of good food.
14 Do not hold on to possessions you no longer need.
15 Do not act following customary beliefs.
16 Do not collect weapons or practice with weapons beyond what is useful.
17 Do not fear death.
18 Do not seek to possess either goods or fiefs for your old age.
19 Respect Buddha and the gods without counting on their help.
20 You may abandon your own body but you must preserve your honor.
21 Never stray from the way.

thank you Trick,

BTW, `cause you`re interesting in techniques :
During the class Mark noted, that I know one of the tech. presented ,and in addition I`m doing it right out of the box.
Nothing strange, it was like the >nyzykiem< famous cut from Polish sabre fencing.
It is part of figure 8, diagonal upward cut.
This move was the most difficult for my wrist, when I returned to sword work couple years ago, so I`ve trained it 30 times everyday before basic workout, two years before I met Mark.

He supposedly wrote those down on his deathbed. If he actually lived by all of those “rules”……………who knows?

Afa the Taoist magical stuff, that's also connected to traditional medicine and traditional martial rituals. We tend to have our view that magic, spirituality, medicine, religion, science, etc., are all separate categories. I'd bet that when cmas emerged from societies that didn't make, or need to make, those neat distinctions. And, yeah, that's why some religious westerners will not do yoga or taichi because they fear demons. Helas, il est juste comme ça.

Internal arts was never esoteric but it appeared to become so with its modernization and lack of true experts so the Daoist mystical stuff sticks and this is what we have today.

Well, in fact, I don't believe that the internal arts are more magical than the external arts. Mysticism and magic are part of Chinese culture. When it's reported that Sun Lutang (or Yang Luchan) predicted the time of their deaths, it's an illustration of their advanced spiritual development. The idea of manipulating and using qi wasn't invented by the internal arts.

I do agree that we in the west turn what some cultures would consider knowledge as supernatural. However, that wasn't what I mean by the internal arts being esoteric. I meant that it was practiced by a small group of people who kept (and keep) their knowledge within a small group.

Yes, one could argue that all CMAs are esoteric. But, the opposite of esoteric is "not mysterious", open, common, well known, familiar, etc.

Yes magic is very present in Chinese as even the Chinese caractere was originally a way of communication with the sky. Even the language and the way of thinking is mystical

He passed out recently, but was livin` in the France.
and
it is very much in the topic, `cause I`ve been told, that his art is direct Mushashi transmission from the spiritual realm,
so
you have neijia expert and esoterism in one neat pakage in your area.
If you didn`t know -start diggin`. -saber-

That one I’ve never heard. His non muddy shoes while entering a house from the muddy street I’ve read somewhere. He probably had an extra pair to wear and changed to those just before entering the facility……………and the other guest thought he had hovered to the place, and YBH rolled his eyes and said well of course I did I’m after all the son of YLC 8-)
