What if you just train one technique for the next 2 years?

Discussion on the three big Chinese internals, Yiquan, Bajiquan, Piguazhang and other similar styles.

John,

CMA has always included both 動功 and 靜功 (moving and stationary practices). They are both important and certainly NOT mutually exclusive.

And if you are trying to argue that ZZ is useless in terms of developing applicable skills, then I will go out on a limb here and say that you most likely have only been exposed to ZZ methods that are health-oriented as opposed to those designed to build a combat-ready body.

In SC, we have 13 postures as:

But I prefer to move than to stand.

In the following clip, his right hand coordinates with his right foot. His right hand then coordinate with his left foot. You can see that when his hand starts to move, his foot starts to move. When his hand stops, his foot stops at the same time. His upper and lower body moving as one unit. This may take over 10,000 solo drill repetition to be able to achieve this. This is the kind of drill that I like to do when I walk (or run).

Can anybody understand what he is doing?

I’ve never learned pure health oriented ZZ, only combat method ZZ, which prove to be good for health too.I’ve been exposed to ZZ that just claimed health and spiritual achievement, and seeing those who kept with those exercises I noticed nothing special, except perhaps for weirdness in some cases.

please also understand that health and combat are man-made categories made by human language.
zz can also be understood to as a method to build fullness of energy, consciousness, awareness, etc within a body system.
i think to think that both are mutually exclusive is not correct

The PM system has "jump in the air, throw 5 hand moves (3 punches, 2 blocks) before feet landing back on the ground". I have not seen such kind of training in any other styles. ...

Q: This drill is better at making one faster at doing what?

A: punch.

Q: When would one want to "jump in the air" to punch or block in a fight?

A: it's just a time stamp.

Which is "better" to time stamp and do in a speed drill: "jump in the air" or "coordinate hand and foot?"

Is it better to include "entering strategy" in drill, instead of only drilling "finish move (technique)?" Here Zhongyi creates reaction (set up) first, then does finish move:

Here this judo woman uses the same concept with different "finish move (technique):"

John

Just a curious question. Do you think your one Bengquan can drop a person?
Because I think Guo Yunsheng don’t do a lot of running training to upgrade his Beng, he simply practice his Beng.
Wrestling and throwing is good, but requires more energy to fully finishes the job, running is ideal to improve stamina.

I hate autocorrect!

I don't like to punch on the body. I only punch to the head. The back of the head is my favor target.
