There wasn't a name for it.

The healing part was a combination of methods picked up from a couple of different teachers.

The qigong was from different sources too, taiji, yiquan some methods similar to those that are in Dale Dugas's Iron palm method and probably some that I've forgotten over the years.

Didn't impress me too much.

yes, qigong practitioners say that using/releasing qi is equivalent to letting blood

"Later, as the class progress, my feet started itching which got stronger and stronger throughout the rest of the class. After class I rushed home and took off my shoes. My feet were swollen and sunburnt red on the tops and bottoms of my feet. Not only there but my scrotum area was affected too. This lasted for over 2 weeks gradually subsiding as time passed."

haoran, i dunno why what you said above made me hot (pun) and bothered. you see, my question is why would your teacher want to do that to you? i really dun understand. are you always late for class or something or what? its like crime mystery. its very strange.

ahhh... so, if your mindset in Taiji is only angles, only mechanics, only fighting, you will look but you will not see or you will scoff at what you see as worthless.
From an energetic, TCM point of view why do you think he did that?

Open channels? Help build kidneys? Remove Han Qi (damp qi)? Open a path way between heaven and earth?

I also follow the standing method of Cai Song Fang which is the same standing method (with a little variation) that this Taiji teacher teaches. Putting all this together and it's clear why he did that.

I told him what happened at a later class and he just said "Good!".

-punchballs- -faint-
eh er...maybe:
he not like your haircut?
he heard you call him some funny names?
he did not like your outfit that day?
he not like you calling and talking dirty to his teenage daughter?
you farted in class when doing single whip?

of course, i'm just guessing here cos i dunno
i was kinda hoping you would enlighten me and perhaps, if you're feeling generous, share with us how making the scrotum red later and it last for 2 weeks is better than outright hitting the balls (lets say using shanxi swallow or whatever) is better.

The older you are, the more you need to challenge yourself. I did my 1st Marathon after my 40 (I had never done any Marathon before my 40). Now I'm over 60 and I still run 5 miles 3 times a week. The mind is a funny thing. The moment that you think you are over the hill, your body will really feel old. If you don't believe that you are old, your body will remain young forever.

If you still train your jumping front kick, tornado kick, spin back kick, flying side kick, ... everyday, your heart will always be young even if you are 80 years old.

A guy married to a 20 years old girl when he was in his 30. 10 years later he divorced his wife and married to his 2nd wife who was also in her 20 (he was 40). 10 years later he devoiced his 2nd wife and married to his 3rd wife who was also in her 20 (he was 50). Why did he do that? That’s one way to remain "young" and CMA training is no different from this approach. ;D

John:

Yes, but U R unusual. Very few share your no-bullshit approach to fitness.

Many people (both Chinese and Western) would rather learn a "gentle exercise" that grants them just a little agility, flexibility and leg strength as they drift into their twilight years than WORK consistently on maintaining athlete-level fitness and strength.

ha, that was pretty damn insulting. Look, everyone's body is different based on what was given by mom and dad. It's very shortsighted to think because ppl are practicing an internal exercise rather than a cardiovascular one they don't give it their all. There are many ways to look at exercise and running 20 miles a day up the Himalayan mountains is not the only way to approach good health.
