Yes, that's what I meant to convey. Some trainers complain about other trainers' approach—not holding the pads more realistically. Most pad workouts I have seen include both holding pads and body armor.
Some trainers do multiple types of pad work. A few may not. Watching one workout may not be representative of the entire pad work program. Also, some trainers do not want to reveal their entire program to the public and have closed door workouts.
Boxing is less chasing hands (e.g., slip, pull back and punch simultaneously) than some MAists that try to bridge, trap, etc.
