Cheng Tin Hung Tai Chi Question

Postby northern_mantis on Fri Dec 28, 2018 11:34 am

Anybody who practices the Cheng Tin Hung form, do you know why the back foot is turned in so much more than other styles in the front stance? It kind of makes sense in terms of the chain of power through the legs and hips but I was wondering if you had any reasoning for it and if it is found in Wu style in general.

Thanks all, hope you all had a good Christmas.

I do not understand your question, here is a link to Cheng Tin Hung:

In UK they call it Wudang Taijiquan, in Hong Kong is just Wu Style Cheng's square and round forms.

When pushing with the rear leg will shift or turned in as you have described, it is not advisable as this will over balance oneself.

Three forms square ,circular and circular continuous
If you look at him doing brush knee you will see it is in the parallel mode
It is evident on the third one where he doesn't adjust the left foot when stepping forward
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Seems like the knee is a lot less prone to collapse and encourages sitting in to the opposite Kwa amongst other things. I like it.
