Testimonial from Mr Cartmell

Postby GrahamB on Tue May 14, 2019 11:55 pm

My friend Glenn tells me Mr Cartmell has been kind enough to write a testimonial for his XY book. What a gent!

"Xing Yi Quan: A Study of Tai and Tuo Xing" is among the rare works in English on the art of Xing Yi Quan, and is even more unique because of its emphasis on the actual fighting applications of the forms, rather than the much more common "forms only" books. The work also includes sections on history, strategy, descriptions of the other "Animal Forms," weapons use and body cultivation practices, but the major emphasis on fully illustrated technical application is what sets the work apart." - 'Tim Cartmell'

Nice! Coming from Tim, that endorsement means something.

The book in question can be obtained at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1916001106/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .

I don't actively train xingyi, but know enough of the art to be able to say the presentation is skillfully handled. I got the book as a gift for a friend who teaches xingyiquan of a different line, and he found the book quite engaging in describing the practice of these two xingyi animals.
