Gong Baotian bagua comparisons

Postby edededed on Sun Dec 14, 2008 8:47 am

As a tangent from one of the recent video threads - there are several distinct Gong Baotian bagua lineages around (Gong Baozhai, Wang Zhuangfei, Wang Mingqu, Sun Ruwen, Liu Yunqiao), of which we have members of at least three of them here :D

Now, although there are notable differences between the various Gong style systems, some forms are similar as well.

In one of the threads, I guess someone mentioned that ligongquan (li palace fist) of Gong Baozhai's system seems to be the same form as baguatui (bagua leg) from Liu Yunqiao's system.

Another one that has been talked about is how paochui (cannon fist) of Gong Baozhai's system seems to be the same form as baoquan (leopard fist) from Fu Zhensong's system (in Hong Kong - not Gong style, but interesting nevertheless).

Any other sets that seem to be the same across systems?

Just thought it would be interesting to see what else we could find in common.

Really? I've been around for quite a while, did I miss it or was it just an earlier thread? Still, might be interesting to add the Wang Zhuangfei, etc. other Gong lineages to the discussion... or any other lineages that might have something that seems to match (like Fu style)...

If someone knows something about Wang Mingqu's style, might be interesting to compare with Wang Zhuangfei's style (some form names seem similar, at least).

Okay - bazhangquan (Gong Baozhai) is also correlate to yingshou (Liu Yunqiao). Cool :D

Here are a couple of clips from Huang Zhi Cheng, a Gong Bao Tian practitioner from the Shandong province.

There are also some recent clips around from a group in Italy but I don't have time to search them out.

I haven't seem anything from the other groups that is the same as the wangzhuangfei stuff. I'm sure there are similarities, as there are in any line of bagua, but some comparisons can be found on the other flower in this thread here.
