Agreed, but that clip you posted again doesn't really prove anything. When striking the whole body wouldn't move up like that unless it was an upwards strike. In a throw, sure, but not in a strike. When striking there are two opposing forces on opposing planes that are then redirected into the opponent. This TKD guy is only moving from side to side. That is only part of the equation. Important in many strikes, but less so than the energy sent into the ground and redirected.

Here is the long fist way to generate power by using

- hammer fist (compress),
- jab (release).

I can't tell what he's doing if he does it gingerly like that. I want to see explosive power, not just flailing arms. It's fine to train like that to warm up, but I don't think that it adds anything to the discussion. I mean Tongbeiquan has a punch very similar to that, but my Master showed it to me using full power and hit a pad, so I was suitably impressed.
