10 roads Cha Chuan

I find this clip 10 roads Cha Chuan. I have only learned the 4th road.

What do you think about this long fist system Cha Chuan?

I learned a version of the 4th Road from Yin Qian He's lineage.

It is a great way of training footwork in different directions.

Mot people in Taiwan only train the 4th road. In the Han Ching-Tang's lineage, the 4th road Cha Chau and Taizu long fist are the last 2 forms to learn.

Something in Cha Chuan that bother me a lot. Even today, I still cannot come up any meaningful application for what his right arm is doing. It's not an upward block. It looks like he is throwing a dart with his right hand.

It seems that Chaquan was simplifeid to the version that I did 30-35 years ago named Changquan 1-3, part of a wushuified 'simplifeid' version.
I remember routine 1 and parts of routine 2 and 3 that I do today when I am taiji lazy. These old bones need movement, flexibility and coordination ;D

I notice that Hui martial system tend to fall into a Long Fist derivative that makes it still relevant when everything else is pointing to the ubuquition chee!

Some groups in Taiwan teach chaquan #5 and #6 as well.

The full chaquan system seems quite huge in China, including many sets of tantui, huaquan, etc. as well, and also lots of weapons sets.

Chaquan sets #1-#3 seem more basic than the later ones; maybe that is why others skipped to Chaquan #4 first.

In modern wushu today, you can see substantial parts of Chaquan #4 just spliced into the "changquan" routine. (I also only learned #4 myself.)

John: I also wish I knew what the application for that movement was...

The same thing is done in Shaolin Quan. Supposedly, it is originally sword fighting movement.
