Taky Kimura, one of Bruce Lee's first two students (with James DeMile) in Seattle who went on to become Lee's very close friend and a skilled teacher of Jeet Kune Do in his own right after Lee's passing, died on January 7 at the age of 96. Kimura survived the Japanese internment camps in the US during World War 2 and some rough economic times after the war. He was an integral part of Lee's continuing martial arts development, the best man at Lee's wedding and one of six pallbearers at Lee's funeral. Kimura's son Andy continues to teach the skills handed down from his father.
Requiescat in pace.
