Krav Maga vs. CMA

There are so much similarity between Krav Maga and CMA such as:

- Wheeling step - move out of your opponent's attacking path.
- Face cover, chin push, forehead wiping.
- Downward parry - open your opponent's guard and punch back.
- Deflect and punch.
- Arm guiding.
- Leading arm jam back arm.
- Enter through the side door.
- ...

It's almost the same as the way I teach my CMA class. It further proves that the combat art should not have any style boundary.

Your thought?

Moshe Feldenkrais (bodywork practitioner) was judo proficeint and many Israelis studied Japanese martial system (amongst others) those who maade them part of the defense establishment so they choose methods over style or form and integrated it into the fabric of their safety/security apparatus. Although I was more exposed to the Keysi Method, Krav Maga was also part of my dignitary protection learning methodology.

Krav Maga and CMA taught right mirror each other. Nothing fancy or lineage. Eithor you are good or you just stink (regarding application and utility of the art)

I like the way that you have described, "choose methods over style".

It's amazing that Krav Maga also uses CMA principle "摀(Wu) – Face covering".

In the Krav video where are the kicks & knees? At least you use the sweeps.

While we are at it - when it comes to self-defense (or offense) then let's go 7 stars all the way.

As for style boundaries - yes who cares. I know I don't.

Odd how he demonstrates a pivot at around 42 seconds, but uses a different step when his partner attacks. He later demonstrates the same pivot again calling it the body defence.

This pivot is basic to many arts, but he can't use it against a moving opponent... doesn't say much about Krav Maga

I am disinclined to judge the combative merits and efficiency of any martial art style or system by the performance of one practitioner on a single video. How absurd! ::)

Drilling pre-established routines to prepare a response for aggression helps to maintain coolness in the face of someone projecting their harmful intention of hurting or killing you. It fails to allow artistic expression.

Dealing with this intention on the fly, in real time would be like a craftsman having a sudden muse, creating his own tools on the spot to work on manifesting his idea/mind into reality.
