Malaysian CMC taiji teacher Lee Bei Lei

Postby nicklinjm on Fri Aug 13, 2021 2:11 am

Recently came across a video of a (relatively unknown) Malaysian CMC-style teacher called Lee Bei Lei (aka Lee Bian Lei):

The reason I'm posting it here is because the teacher and his material seems so much more martial in focus than the vast majority of CMC taiji out there. Some of the 2-person drills, applications and push hands look pretty interesting too.

Particularly amusing to see the guy in the video (who IIRC was a student of Donn Draeger) try to put wrist locks and arm locks on Lee to no avail.

Does anyone on this board know more about this branch?

Nice. They sanshou set looks like they practice with more aliveness than most partner set performances I've seen.

Yep. Their sanshou set doesn't look like a dance, and it looks like it works, too.

The point of the san shou is not to fit in with your partner but to make him falter while still sticking to the form
Thé solo sets are much more expansive than the two man pattern and every move has many solo applications
