This is probably similar to the practice of making your sifu alive, so you are in his presence. It can be a wonderful reminder at times.

So I know that some lineages open and close with ritual gestures.

The Dong family has a salute, as does Doc's Shen Men Tao system.I guess as a calling card to represent the school, but possibly also as an honorific to the tradition?

Do any of you have such a salute, what does it mean?
The form is the notes, the quan is the music

We use the first salute in this video. 0 - 1:10.

The method of practicing this boxing art is nothing more than opening and closing, passive and active. The subtlety of the art is based entirely upon their alternations. Chen Xin
