Turn your head back

Discussion on the three big Chinese internals, Yiquan, Bajiquan, Piguazhang and other similar styles.

Well I mean participate in the discussion or not. There's no need to be coy and inscrutable, I doubt anybody is going to get anything useful out of what you've dropped since it contradicts itself.
Just giving you an opportunity to clarify what you mean since otherwise it's a pointless diversion from quality discussion.

I don't know what kind of demands on your time you face but I don't really have the luxury of listening to an hour long podcast to get to a point you could just type out.
I really don't care enough about your idea here to work for it, wayne. You can't even keep your words straight, why the hell should I think you know what you're talking about?
I'm here to talk in five minute bursts, not pick up side quests.

Okay, I'll bite. He "gets it" at what time stamp?

Well, at 11:00 he starts talking about spending 17 years with the same people, training 5+ hours a day, that could be one part.

That being said I am not convinced he gets it. Then again, what does "getting it" really mean?

It's like Elon Musk telling people how to get rich.

I peeked at the 11 minute mark. He talks about people I've known for a long time. When it comes to "getting it" as far as they're concerned. At the time, that was done in competitions. I.e., could they fight. It's why many people switched from 'harder' styles to tcc. I know William and his students could. But, I'm sure that's not what other people mean.

BP Chan was primarily a xingyi/bagua guy. He did introduce people to the "tai chi ruler" exercises. I have many fond memories of him, and how he'd call me Stevens. I kept listening about 40 minutes because of the stories about him.

Anyway, I like what he says about teaching for free, especially to people who need it, and why he is teaching.

In Taiwan...often people approach asking advice on something they see in the practice
wondering how to, or what should they
be doing to "get " what they see.

Most have the theory, an intellectual understanding...they can talk about this
Some how this doesn't match their present development or skill set.. when put to the test..

Others having an understanding based on skill,
comment remarking on the similarities of both practices, appreciating the differences..

My own feeling starts from the POV that everyone has it,
they block themselves from realizing it.

The practice based on helping them to identify, remove the blockages

Sorry for wasting peoples time
I persisted in watching that guy just because I started
Right at the end he says exactly what we were talking about regarding glance /look
I have watched a lot of these Taoi podcasts due to the connection to Yu Hai
I like his talks but most of these are disappointing at the best
I just found this guy quite funny as some of the stories he quotes are well known but he gets the punch line wrong
Like the one of crunching the paper and smoothing it out again

I just scanned through the video, but I thought there were some interesting things in it. Around 1:09:00 he quotes his teacher - If you teach them too plainly, you give them only spare parts. This seems to be true, and more so on forums ...

Who's looking for a teacher in the forum? Not me. That's pretty arrogant of people to assume a discussion is a request for a lesson.

Arnold Schwarzenneger said "People like to make things complicated so you have to pay them to decode it"

Kind of like Nietzsche's "They muddy the waters to make them appear deeper"

It's all connected. But, ultimately, there is a martial law, a martial truth about it all, and that is what I strive for.

It is both physical and mental. I can watch an interview with someone and I will know how good they are at martial arts even though they didn't demonstrate aythig.

Well :-\ here on RSF many watch what others can do, comment negatively able to "see" what is being done
by others not showing their own work only write.... :P
might be good if it was a writing contest

it's not ;D

used to judge CMA contest btw...
along time ago...

movement alone does not always translate to usage...
each takes a slightly different skill set..

You say put to the test like it's some kind of Olympian feat, a once in a lifetime quest to discover the result of decades effort.

Isn't it more like trial and error over time? It's not 8 mile, you get as many shots as you want to take. Get stupid with them. Experiment. Invest in loss.
