I don't understand the family obsession. The next Messi won't be named Messi or Ronaldo or Mbappe. Will Jordan's grandkids have any basketball talent? Maybe, maybe not.

I think people care more about what you can show them than they do who you say your teacher is or was.

Concur with what other posters already said - the Yang Zhenduo / Yang Jun group is pretty irrelevant nowadays, even for serious Yang stylists, as they are not able to show many of the skills for which the Yang family were famous (seizing energy najin and short / cold power).

Years ago(late 90’s ?) YZD with Yang jun visited Sweden teaching at a seminar, Stockholm I believe ?
I remember this from SVT(TV)that had a short reportage on the event, in there YZD pushed around a young YJ that quite abruptly almost violently ended up sprawling on the ground……He must have learned something from that ?

Oh, there are vids of Yang Jun doing phs on YouTube. His applications are nothing extraordinary. But, so what?

His form, whatever one thinks of it, is very precise and as close as possible to his grandfather's Yang Zhenduo who resembled his dad YCF. People who don't think much of YCF's tcc form won't think much of Yang Jun's. Afa fighting, it was Fu Zhongwen who was the 'gatekeeper' to accept challenges.

What and who are we really concerned about?

For myself, I have learned many 'variations' of Yangshitaijiquan and over time I have added/transformed things
from other style that I have incorporated into my own physical representation of taijiquan. Whether Yang Family,
Yang style, Yang disciples, etc where each has imagined they have the 'total picture', I have found the man/woman
who has learned something and able to show/describe/play taijiquan to be for 'superior' (relatively speaking!) than
just learning a style from a hereditary source, real or imaginery.

Each to his own ability to make what he learns his own, resonates better with me that just copying and claiming they
have real stuff, whatever that may imply
