From the street scuffles I have been in and those I have seen, a 3-round MT ring fight is ten times rougher. I'd say that in 95 percent of cases, those who compete in MT (ie anyone who has trained for about six months and has the will) will have few problems on da streetz against unarmed attackers.

And this idea about 'breaking your shins:" Freak accidents. I have seen it happen twice in my life (both on YouTube). I never heard of it happening when I trained MT. Nasty accidents happen in other sports too, but it doesn't make such things common or even likely.

RE Vid: Don't see much different between this kick and most MT kicks. When I did MT (distant past...am I "old style MT"?) we used all kinds of vectors:upward, horizontal, downward.

HI Andy,

Yeah, nothing's changed. Roundkicks can be thorwn horizontal, upward, and downward. The downward kicks hurt like monkey-fighters. I hate to get hit with those on my legs. An upwards roundkick to the ribs will leave most people gasping for air if it lands on it's target.

Re: applicability of MT in teh streetz...MT is much more than punching and roundkicks. There are also elbows, knees and short range grappling/throws (most commonly known as the MT clinch).
