Whether or not people like Sigman, at least *he* put himself and his skills out there by doing seminars to help aikido people get a foot in the door to internal training. No, I don't train with nor am I associated with Sigman.

There is a problem in the aikido world in that it has lost the very basis for the art -- aiki. Ueshiba had it. Tomiki, Shioda, Shirata, all had it to some degree. Now? Not so much. Make fun all you like. It's the age of the Internet Warrior, after all.

Actions, however, speak a whole lot better than posts. Toby Threadgill puts himself and his skills out there by doing seminars for aikido people. Quite a few people on that list have. What have *you* done? Oh yeah, made funny posts on an Internet Forum. -blah-

On a side note, thanks Ashe! I posted Chin's name on the Aikiweb thread.

actually i signed up and made several posts over there. looks like someplace i can get my fix discussing the relevance of zen and martial art. i made a post in that topic, but for some reason only that post needed to be approved by a moderator? ???

i don't know, maybe because i submitted links to a couple of videos...

Shawn, you'll never progress beyond this puerile state of hate and fear unless you embrace you inner power animal and give siggy a hug.

Sigman moved to the aiki community because people in the CMA community got tired of him talking shit about everybody else and their teachers, etc., etc. He got away with it for a while because he was one of the first guys to articulate it clearly and put himself forward as an "expert," but after a few years people figured out he wasn't all that and a bag of chips-- at least not to the extent that it was worth putting up with his piss-poor behaviour.

Mr. Threadgill is a good man. I actually had the good fortune to get slapped around by him, once.

As for internal strength and aikido, aikijujitsu, etc., I imagine within the next few years we'll start to see a higher percentage of aiki guys get it than what currently is going on in CMA-- on the whole I would say that joe-average aiki student works harder and more consistently than the average CMA dude, the class structures tend to be more regulated, and there's just a lot more of them.
Plus, a lot of them actually work to apply their stuff. People may bag on aiki guys because they don't think the applications are realistic, but it's at least better than form-fu, and ever so slightly more dynamic than santi-statue defense.
What I'm after isn't flexible bodies, but flexible brains.

Some Aikidoka are being convinced by outsiders that over 1.5 million people practicing Aikido today has no internal strength and needs an infusion.

Mike Sigman and Dan Hardan say they can teach it.

So to help those who feel their Aikido needs that infusion I am asking the people here and other sites if they would contribute to the list on Aikiweb.

Should I put Shawn and Mix on the list. Which one is the sifu?

I find myself wondering what "walrus" would look like, if it were a xingyi animal.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.
