I hear what Ashe is saying, but I've gotta agree with this -- in sports fighting it's a must-have, unless your skill level is A LOT higher than your opponent's. Esp. if the groundwork is involved. FWIW.

Sport fighting yes. Conditioning for street fighting is much less important IMO. A street fight should be over very quickly. Of course if you are skilled enough that you can always end a fight within the first minute then conditioning might not be an issue, but for most of us that not likely.

One thing to consider for sport fighting and the street is dealing with the adrenaline dump. The adrenaline dump zaps a huge amount to energy when it kicks in, killing your technique, but conditioning really helps with this - so I would argue that conditioning is very important during sport and street fighting. The better conditioned people almost always comes out on top, I've seen it happen again and again - unless there is a huge gap in the skill level. The best strategies and techniques in the world aren't worth shit against a strong determined opponent unless you're in the well conditioned shape to use them, that is unless you are fighting old ladies and little children or someone of "much" lesser skill.

li doesn't necessarily mean strength.

EDIT- i also never said that conditioning wasn't important, or even essential for ring fighting, just that it's not more important than skill.

he moved so badly in the human weapon series. he got KTFO by a tiny little TKD guy. if he's gonna win, his only chance is on the ground.

What do you mean? Direct translation of lik/li is 'strength'.

From what I saw of Bill fighting he was pretty good once he actually got his hands on someone (see MMA, Sambo episodes)
