Hello,

I'm Philippe,

I practice Xing Yi (Hebei style) from at least 5 years. I also tried Bagua (Cheng style) three years ago for a couple a months. I practice XingYi spear and sword (mostly the sword). I have 2 XingYi books at home, one from Xue Dian and the other from Li Cun Yi. I have also a VCD from Shang style XingYi who's talking about spear. I believe that books and DVD/VCD cannot replace a good master. Training hard and testing is own skills on people stronger/faster and better than us is the only way to be better. I read emptyflower and keep update with the forum since I start learning XingYi.

I never post before, so it's my first post.

Hello kindred. I'm Stephen Muir, living just north of Dallas, TX in Denton. I've been with Stan Johnson (of Adam Hsu's San Francisco school in the 70s/80s) for about 3 years now. I've been doing Islamic Longfist (Jiaomen Chang Quan), which I think is descended from Han QingTan, the whole 3 years: Tan Tui, Pao Quan, Cha Quan. Recently I've begun working on Lost Tack Fist (Mi Zong Quan), which is descended from Liu YunQiao. In Lost Track I've studied Tan Tui and Yi Lu = 1st road = "structure form". I've had a slight taste of our bagua, which is descended from Gong BaoTian, and I would love to develop it further if I am able.

I've also thought about looking for a praying mantis guy to teach me someday, because my arms naturally tend to fall into that praying mantis shape and my legs tend to do the extreme heel-toe pulling step.

As for special skills, I'm trying to develop a bit of an iron body. I prefer full body conditioning over just iron palms for health reasons. And of course every kung fu man should develop a few special bedroom skills, wink wink. Control of one's body, that's the goal.

My great dream is to enter into some kind of mma/cagefight/octagon/ufc thingy and show the masses what they are missing out on. Although I'm not sure how restrictive their rules really are, so it may or may not be possible to adapt my style. And I may or may not ever train hard enough to get there. My main obstacle right now is lack of people to train with on a daily basis. The drive to Dallas and my classmates is far enough that I can only do it once or twice a week, so I'd love to find anybody in Denton who's interested in any kind of drilling, san shou, or sparring practice.

I sincerely believe that the soul of kung fu is in its usage.

Peace.

Hello My name is Konn.

My main practice is Bagua, although I can't shake the dam tai ji off (dam that tai ji!!). I have practiced CMC, Yang Family and Wu tai ji, Hsin yi, Yi Chuan, and Lung Ta over the past 25 years. Still practice lots and seem to be improving.
The spiritual side of martial arts means a lot to me, but I am totally into the fighting.

Hey everyone, I've been reading posts here for the last couple of weeks so I feel like I should introduce myself.

My name is Mat, I'm 30 and currently living in London, and have been doing bagua and hsing i for about four years. I took up chi gung, taichi and bagua to sort myself out after getting a stress related repetitive strain injury from work, which worked where six months of seeing specialists had failed. I soon stopped doing taichi and concentrated on bagua, which seems to suit my personality more, and enjoyed it enough to stick with it. I took up hsing i a while afterwards, and was really taken with it's direct martial approach - It doesn't take much stretch of the imagination to figure out how to apply crushing fist - And I currently regard it as the core of my martial practise, whereas bagua gives me a deeper emotional and psychological workout.

I've spent a lot of the last few years travelling which has meant a few long periods of practising by myself, but I've been fortunate to have really awesome teachers during the times I've actually been in one place! My bagua is therefore a bit of a hybrid, though my hsing i is pretty traditional. I'm not really fussed with style or lineage - just what works!

That's me - I might post once in a while, but being a relative beginner I don't feel like I have that much to contribute :)

Hi everyone.

I've been training Chinese martial arts for about 11 years. I used to practice modern wushu and Yang Taiji, then I practiced Chen Taiji and now I've moved on to Bajiquan

Hi all, I'm William and I have studied Yang style Taijiquan on and off since the late 90's. My new love is Chen style but where to find a qualified teacher..... none by me. I've been learning from dvd's books and seminars. Hope to learn the real thing someday soon.

Hi there - my real name is Cecil, and I've been studying Tai Chi and Bagugazhang for two years now. It just seemed like the right thing to do, and it has changed my life. I'm also going to begin studying Tai Chi sword (the jiang) later this year.

Nice to meet everyone!

My name is Scott Pennykid and I live in Vancouver, BC. I'm practicing Tchoung Ta Tchen's Yang Style Tai Ji Quan. I've only been at it for 6 weeks now and am lovin' every minute of it. My teacher is Tim Glasheen, a senior student of Tchoung's that was left in charge of the school after Tchoung's passing. Master Tchoung's tai ji is old Yang with CMC influences. Our zhan zhuang comes from Wang Shu-jin.

I love xing yi and I'm ashamed to say that I'm learning it exclusively from Luo Dexiu's youtube videos.

I studied Fu Style Internal Arts with Victor Fu for 4 or 5 years, and various qi gong methods with Liang Shou-yu when my finances allowed it.

Anyhoodilydoodily, I practice IMA because they are, in my opinion, the finest and coolest way to unify body, mind, and spirit.

Also, as my avatar reveals, I loves the archery.
