Internal Teachers in HK

Postby Sean on Tue Aug 11, 2015 2:53 am

Hey Everyone,

A friend of mine, a dance educator and Feldenkreis teacher, is going to Hong Kong for a while and is looking to train some internal martial arts while she's there.
Does anyone know of some good teachers?

Any names and contact info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

For the internals HK is very strong on the taiji side, with the other internals (bagua / xingyi / yiquan) not being as well represented.

For taiji, she could choose between Eddie Wu (current gatekeeper) for Wu style taiji and Ma Weihuan (马伟焕) for Yang style. For Chen style she could try finding Zeng Zhuo'er (曾卓儿), a disciple of Chen Xiaoxing - very impressed with her laojia yilu and pao chui, her fajin is amazing.

On the bagua side, probably the most famous is C S Tang, who speaks English and is mostly known for his Gao style bagua (see website: http://cstang.www3.50megs.com/index_en.html).

For xingyi, generally HK is very weak, I would be remiss if I did not mention my kungfu 'cousin' in Song style xingyi Gary Sze who posts on this board.

As far as Yiquan goes, I think the most active is the group under Ng Chi-hang (伍智恒), whose branch comes from the brothers Han Xingyuan / Han Xingqiao, think he was featured on an HK documentary about Yiquan a while back and has his own website, can't find the link at the moment.

Hope that helps.

Those guy's liuhebafa is the bomb, really special, beautiful body mechanics - potentially very interesting for a dancey feldenkraisy type of person.
