Recommendations in Minneapolis area?

Postby snowpanda on Mon Dec 06, 2021 3:31 pm

I recently relocated to Minnesota, living about an hour west of Minneapolis. Would love recommendations for teachers in the area. Preference is for those who can actually fight and teach towards that (after a probation period if required), style not especially important, although outside of internal CMA I find some schools of Kali/Silat very interesting as well.

I was planning on checking out Paul Abdella's school, whichever of Ray Hayward's students are teaching beginners now, and one of Gin Foon Mark's instructors on the western side of the cities.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks! I reached out and he connected me with his instructor Julie Cisler. I think he's not teaching beginner classes anymore and is traveling most of December anyway.

Look up Kasey Keckeisen in Mounds View. Classical arts include Judo and Jujitsu, but he's also an active duty cop and has served as a SWAT team leader and SWAT training coordinator, as well as teaching Violence Dynamics for civilians, etc. I haven't met him, but we have mutual friends, and he is by all accounts a great guy, as well.
