N Virginia Shuai Chiao

Postby Peacedog on Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:31 am

Hey guys,

A friend asked me if the Northern Virginia Shai Chiao Club is any good. I've never met anyone from this organization. Their website is : http://novascc.com/default.aspx.

Aside from Master Wang, I've never seen anyone on this board who is a known expert in the style. Is anyone here familiar with the group?

Thanks,

Peacedog

My 2c- I personally know Lee Black. The guy is freakin awesome. He got is black belt from David Lin- if you want to see what I am talking about, I would strongly suggest you check him out. Plus Lee has studied other arts, the guy understands how to make things work together. I won't say what he is doing for a living, but I believe he is doing something where he uses his skills for work.

I strongly suggest you check them out!

Fong, nice! clips? I am very sure you are a beast on the mat!

As far as this group we are talking about, it looks like something I have always wanted to see- great players from different branches of the tree getting together to further the art. I absolutely love it.

These guys practice at the same place we do on wednesdays. I've only met the guys but never seen the training. I'll try to check out a class. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again.

Nick took gold again in his weight class. he's been consistently mopping up in his weight class for several years now. competed in beijing too, but only got about 5th place or so there. but still.. that's not so bad.

thanks Pat :) I am a little rusty--made a bunch of mistakes against the first guy I fought, but still beat him. lost against the second guy cuz I wasn't yet prepared for his level of strength. I'll get him next time... january in san diego!

Sounds like a good showing! I went down to the school and met Nick briefly this evening. He said he was just teaching krav because he had very few interested in shuai jiao, but he'd like to start a group. I gave him my e-mail so maybe I'll do some training with him. There was another guy who came by interested in sc also, but I dunno if I can really bite off a 5th ma right now while working 50 hours a week, even if it's once a week. It's too bad because I'd love to focus on throws more, but it's been hard to get everybody training safely for any length of time doing lots of throwing in bagua and not everybody wants to fall much at all.

Feel free to let me know if a group gets going. I'll be moving to DC from Beijing this fall/winter and it would be good to find a shuai jiao group to keep up with my training.
