Instructors in Manila ?

Postby Mr_Wood on Fri Nov 20, 2009 1:25 pm

Anybody know of any instructors in Manila, Philippines ? All I know is that the police and army here train eskrima\ Kali but i havent seen or heard of any schools offering lessons. I am told there are quite nice hand to hand fighting methods which go along with the stick fighting ? and also other FMA which are similar to CMA.

Thanks

There are many FMA, JMA, and CMA schools and instructors in Manila, the R.P.s Rapid Journal- would be a good place to start..great magazine about M.A's in the P.I.

Sorry to see that they are ceasing publication. If you can contact them or obtain one of their magazines may give you a place to start.

Contact Danny Go from Rapid Journal (link is listed by Chanchu above). Danny is a great guy and he can introduce you to all the CMA and FMA practitioners in Manila.

Sad to hear about Rapid. I wrote an article on our Xiaobaji training in Rapid Journal way back in 99 or 2000.

Thanks guys, i went to see a guy called Jorge Ramos in Manila, he's an old timer who teaches from his home specializing in Iron Hand and Iron Shirt. Im not so interested in Iron Shirt, spears in the throat etc.. but his iron hand training is very very nice.
Its all very traditional and a very friendly school :)

Mr Wood,

Where in Manila are you? I will be in Manila (off Pioneer) for my annual 2-week trip from March 11-23, 2010 to train with my Tabimina Balintawak family; to the trained CMA it would look a bit like southern short hand with a stick (and the training is live). If you havent experienced this type of training, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Please feel free to PM me if you want any additional info...
