Postby vietle87 on Wed Dec 16, 2009 6:45 pm

I'm from LA originally and I studied with Shifu Jason Tsou (Wutan). I'm in Philadelphia studying at Drexel right now (trying to get into med school's a bitch...) anyways, is there anyone in philly that someone could recommend?

thanks in advance

Lived there for 5 years, really wanted to learn bagua, but I didn't find it when I was there (had to go all the way to Japan to find what I was looking for)! I did consider taking classes in NYC intermittently, but - alas, students don't have much money at all.

Chen Pengfei (Chen Xiaowang's son) goes to Penn and runs a small Taiji study group on Penn's campus every Sunday at noon by the Huntsman building. Frank Shiery teaches Chen taiji in the area too - when I was there a few years ago, he was teaching a weekly class at Rittenhouse, not sure if that's still there though. There's also a Wutan branch in Philly http://baztaichi.com/ but I never checked them out.

Really?! That is very cool - if only he was around my age, I would have definitely joined that taiji group :D

I know that you specified that you would like Internal Kung fu, but you are more than welcome to come by the Gracie Jiu jitsu school that I train at to check out a free class. We are doing a beginners program right now, 6 weeks of training 2x per week for $129

The reason I am mentioning this is because you said you are at Drexel and we are right over the bridge (chestnut and walnut) from you on 23rd and sansom. Feel free to pm me or call the school; 215. 636 9661

Happy holidays!

Now that I think about it, I think Drexel has a decent Judo club and a Shotokan Karate club as well, might be worth checking those out as well.
