Workshop for Wing Chun Sticking hands for Taijiquan Practitioners in East Midland, Saturday 23rd February 2019

This will be the first stage of the adhering program in Non-concentric Martial Arts. Traditionally there are only four systems that claim to have systematic studies on the subject based on one to one practice with proficient practitioner. These are Taiji pushing hands, Bagua pushing hand routine, Xingyi two person sets, and Yongchun (Wing Chun) sticking hands. Taiji and Wing Chun are well published, Bagua pushing hand routine is lesser known because it was developed in the South of China, and Xingyi two person sets did not receive much publicity mainly because of its powerful punches most people have difficulties in enter into contact. Most Taijiquan practitioners knew how to activate their elastic components which made it easy to follow the sticking hand movements. The Yip Man system of sticking hand is simple to follow and is a almost perfect defense system just needed a few improvements. Maybe this is why it is easy to begin with sticking hand as the first stage of the adhering program.

The aim of adhering is to control the opponent to demonstrate superiority rather than fighting according to certain rules or protective devices.

In the first session from 10 am to 11:15 am, Taijiquan practitioners will develop from their passive stances to active springy ones, and develop their arm rotation movements into defensive and offensive techniques. They will learn the basic defensive techniques of Tan, and Bong, Fook; then the additional offensive techniques such as thrust, shell punch, upper palm, lower palm, and circle hands.

The second session from 11:30 am to 1 pm, participants will learn techniques of getting out of trapped hands, entry to sticking, various torso movements to improve power, stepping, and additional defensive and offensive techniques.
