I want to meet you

This isn't a today, this week, or even this year sort of goal, hell it's not even a goal yet because it doesn't have that deadline.

But I want to touch hands with you and feel the results of your work.

Yes, even you, even though you're a complete asshole online.

Let's meet up, stretch a little, push a little hands, talk about our journey and theories and all the amazing players we've encountered, maybe have some tea and dim sum or beer and a doner kabob, or, uh Foster's and a kangaroo cutlet or whatever the hell Wayne eats down under.

Regular meetups were just part of the culture with empty flower and that's how I met Bruce and Dmitri and Dale and some other dude in Boston who I forgot his name. It's how I met Doc and Mike Graves and Dave Pickens. It's something I'd love to see make a come back.

I'm willing to use it as an excuse to travel to see this great land of ours to come see you one on one or a convenient gathering you might be attending.

I may even be able to arrange a meetup some place like Austin. I have friends with land who love Taijiquan there.

Point being, let's start coordinating.

I'm in Palm Bay, Florida. Where are you?

Hey, it's a bit far for us, but I've always enjoyed meeting folks off forums - a really a productive experience. Made a couple long term friends and training partners too.

Cool that you met Mike Graves - I believe I'm thinking of the same guy - he used to be from UK but moved stateside. Not met in person but yea, like his stuff and we conversed briefly here and there online.

Goof luck with this, and don't forget a pic if it works out :)

The Mike I'm talking about is a Taijiquan guy with a little bit of a fight background. He's the muscular melanated gentleman in the front here.
The guy in the back is Sean Kovaravich

Yes that's the chap

He studied with a UK guy who did the Yang family TCC back in the day starting with the YSC disciple that was the first on these shore. . Anyway Rob P who posts here on occasion knew his teacher well as they were contemporaries back then.

His san shou at the UK open really impressed me when I first saw it, you could clearly see the obvious tai chi at work in there, which wasn't always the case with these things.

He is extremely skilled, soft, immense power. Love it when I get a chance to work with him.

In Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, before COVID, there were active clubs pushing on a weekly basis. About quarterly we would have a gathering in one of the cities with folks from the others traveling to participate. Mike and Sean were regulars at all of them.

I want to encourage that kind of community everwhere. I think it's the only way taijiquan has any chance of surviving and growing.

Cool, didn't meet him in person, but conversed a couple time online. Was following his clips, I recognise the name Shaun, training partner in a lot of those I think. Been a while though, not sure if he's still posting much by the way of clips.

But his ideas and the direction of training certainly resonated.

My wombat soup is not for all
People think these days that just the fact of asking for something means it should be granted
Not all teachers I asked to teach me granted the request
To push with the higher people in our school was an honour that had to be earned
Once earned it was an invaluable gift
As I have said many times
Skill is passed on from hand to hand in a literal sense
In the past I pushed with one and all
Now it is a rare occasion I even push with my own students
Just like I don’t respond to all those on this site
Once you know someone is not listening it is no point
However it may be of value to others
This is not directed at you origami but just a general observation about tai chi in general
When you push with someone you push with everyone they have ever pushed with good and bad
I have good people to push with whenever I wish
Not toddy’s who jump when ever I wish but intelligent practitioners who keep me on my toes and stretch my limits
That is what pushing is there for

That sounds more like a sex partner than a push hands partner. :)

I'm still looking for a good group of pushers to grow with. But even so, I want to meet you crazy old fuckers in person and tweak your noses.

From tuishou to sexual yoga. Wayne I didn't think you had it in you. :o

Well I knew he was from a land "down under" but I didn't know that's how they played Push Hands as well

If you don’t think they are both the same your not doing either correctly

Well generally there's less risk of disease or creating extra population with the push hands.

I definitely like to mix a little push hands with the sex though. Particularly with shibari when you need to be mindful of circulation and nerve pressure and moving them around safely. Or just throwing them around, women love that feeling of being overpowered.

Well and of course the ting jin...
And you gotta raise the Shen to really put the whammy on em.
I treat both situations like a handshake. Want to fit them exactly with just the right amount of pressure.

And then there's the alchemical potential of BDSM in general!

Okay you might be on to something there but we might be getting into the realm of needing a new thread

I'm in Surprise, Arizona you and the rest of the board have an open invitation if you're in the Phoenix area to meet up and touch hands. I'm not looking to be super martial as I have a number of medical conditions but we'll see how many spoons I have.
