dont be so defensive.

it has nothing to do with "defensive", I ask you to reciprocate -- not a huge stretch, for an online forum. If you don't, that's fine, but then prepare to reap as ye had sown. ;)

well peng means expand and refers to a specific motion which involves the whole body expanding (and typically, a step)...

I am just saying I do not see in the first clip, where exactly is the peng.... if anyone does not know, how can you say there is peng there?

Yes. Peng is all over your body.

But it is still may be expressed on the palm, forearm, shoulder, back etc.

In general, we may like to see movements from big to small.

but sometimes, the movements are not big enough for us to "see".

meaning the practitioner may express peng with minute movement of the whole body.

;)

or the power has to be felt and not "see".

8-)

Peng jin is the expanding energy of the body which should be present all the time, peng is a specific technique as well which is the first part of grasping the birds tail.

Do you mean you didn't see any peng jin or that you didn't see him use the technique you know of as peng?

Aha, now I see what you're talking about.

As it may have been noted previously, "peng" means more than just a specific motion. It is a "jin" that is expressed, as felt by an opponent, similar to a continually-expansive and yet confound-to-a-shape quality of a basketball or another similar object. There is also "peng" motions/postures in tjq forms, and the related applications of those motions/"postures". It seems that you were talking about one of the "standard" applications, whereas others may have been talking about the other "meaning" of the term (which no one can "see" in a clip, but only feel.)

FWIW

P.S. Oops, others posted similar things in the meantime... See what happens when you communicate in a reciprocating and polite fashion? ;)

So I guess you are saying the "peng" in the first example in the video is the very last strike?

'peng' as a posture/movement/application? More than once; the first time is back of his left hand to the face, at 0:07 and (same but slower) as 0:13

However, as it has been pointed out by others on this thread, what he does in that clip is highly unorthodox, as far as "taiji applications" go. Doesn't make it wrong.

why would one 'peng' someone's head (when one can easily miss), rather than using a good old-fashioned punch?

Why do you think Peng misses the head any easier than a good old fashioned punch?

Wouldnt Peng be the quality of the punch, and not the punch itself?
