In that second clip, the first minute looks like Patrick Kelly and Person X and the next part seems like it is Huang with Person X.

I had a chance to check out Patrick Kelly's push hands in a workshop about 11 years ago - I think his PH system is pretty interesting, and very effective. Seems like it has a very clear set of principles and steps of applying those techniques. I believe he studied with Huang for 20 years in Malaysia.

Well, as he perfectly out classed, or crusched a SC champion, he definitively has some great skills. Sad though that he ended up in a "linkongjin" worship ... But often as it is, myths are often based on reality and facts.

I ment him twice at my teacher's in Taibei, in the 80s. Though they were big friends, we students were not so much impressed. But he was old and on a cane already.

For what it's worth, I do believe that Huang shows excellent internal skills in the form of push hand. However, applying those skills on a semi-coorperative partner in push hand is very different than on a fully resisiting opponent in free-fighting.

In the Kuoshu tournament held in Taiwan in 1955, Huang won the roushou (push-hand) champion by defeating Hung I-Hsiang, but lost in the sanshou (free-fighting) division to Cha Chuan/ Shuai Jiao expert Chang Yin-Jiang.

near the end of fight the wrestler (not a SC guy) was mad and give everything.
GM Huang didNot give the wrestler any face nor any points at all.

you can actually see the wrestler getting pissed off.
for loosing so much face for not getting any points.

He was a pro-wrestler, not an NHB or Judo guy: ie an entertainer rather than a fighter. Part of the game is ridiculing/being ridiculed.

There was a pretty decent article about the "match" in Inside Kungfu about a decade ago (ie before they focused their, ahem, editorial talents on kungfu movie 'stars'), which quoted a number of name fighters, all of whom concluded that it was fake. Even Robert Smith said as much (in "Masters and Methods").

But don't take my word for it - parts of it are up on YouTube.

I have to say that for all the disappointment of the Wu-Chen Macau match, that - at least - was a real fight.

Well, that was a version I haven't heard before. It would be interesting to read the article. though I really don't trust R. Smith. ... Many people call him "fake" as well you know.
