Fong, yes, I see--and there is an awful moment of suspense when the poor guy is trying to hook up with the opponent's leg to absorb, and misses... It's not where he thinks, or hopes, he will find it. Someone told me Judo means "gentle way," but I think he was lying.

I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

the way you absorb is you stick onto their leg, putting your lower body's weight completely onto that leg. At the same time, you pulling your torso away from their body, to pull their weight onto that leg (you make the c.o.g. of both of you together right above the opponent's leg, so he's supporting both your bodies with his one leg). unfortunately in this case, the guy had his arm around him, so his torso couldn't get away. ended up putting his c.o.g. high, and just made the throw easier.

For a second there I thought the guy in white had enough to counter throw, but blue was beastly. Gotta love the strength to hoist the guy up, fit your hip in front of his, and send him for a fun little ride.

Czesc Wiesiek,

Yeah that's actually how I found it. I always hear the Russians talking about how Georgians are monsters at the sport so I entered in Georgia at http://www.judovision.org and needless to say I can see what they're talking about.

Yeah, that's the stuff masters are made of.

I really like his combination at 3:45 where he fakes the shoulder throw and then immediately goes for a Cuban leg grab once the guy straightens up to pull back.

That's the stuff.

Nice, my buddy Ruben does that one all the time. I always think he's going to get his back taken but he pulls it off nicely. I like the grip that Koga uses on the end of the sleeve and the cross collar grip to set that shoulder throw up.

Hi G

Higlanders

are the strongest bread of mankind :)
+ they love KBs

PS edit for Brady:

u need strenght only to lift and not as much as it looks like,
1st.u stop Tori movment by counter by your hips and arm + lowering u body
2.grab his thigh and uproot him using forward trusting power of your hips
now u can pass by him and became Tori ;D

movability of the hips is no1
not only the srenght

its best counter for uchi mata lovers!
best
W.

Ya I did not mean to say it was brute strength and it seemed well practiced and applied. I will have to work with this counter because I could see it fitting in some gaps in my training.

then
i can add some more for practise of this counter:
2nd version of it-
u dont go for "passby" and hip throw
but
- You trow "at once" ie when u uproot him
follow trusting movment of the hips fall on your back
and
twist u body around his thigh
if it isn`t ippon
u are in superior position for ne waza work :)
best

W.

ps
when you master this counter nobody uchimatten u!
