Wujiaquan

Postby ppscat on Sat Aug 09, 2008 11:23 pm

Here there are some clips on Wujiaquan (巫家拳), a rare martial art from Hunan Province in South Central China, performed by Dai Jianguo from Changsha (7th generation). It's interesting to notice a smooth blend of southern and northern fist.

Yin Yang outgoing and incoming continuous hands' form.

I really like the style. It looks like it would be fun to practice and effective.

I find it fun and effective too. A bunch of nice applications combining punch combos with traps and foot usage. I really like when forms have clear applications ie. Bagua 64 form. Many Yang Taiji fast forms have plenty of unclear movements. It may be a way of hidding techniques, but in the long run there's a risk of loosing the original content.
