dedicated to the discussion of the chinese internal martial arts of xingyiquan, baguazhang, taijiquan, related arts, and anything else best discussed over a bottle of rum
for example; the double downward fists or shuang zhai chui.
we or I would stand up more then bend the knee and move down fists at the same time.
overall, we or I would stand up more and then bend knee.
instead of always with knees bent.
1. this would create more downward power.
2. you inhale while stand up more, consolidate your qi in dan tian, then exhale, the qi sinks down with whole body moving down, knee bending, fists down all at the same time.

the same idea at 2:05.
but no big deal.
just personal "touch".

I'm just a beginner in baji so my contribution is very small. When I first started training the xiao jia I too used to get higher and then back in position while doing the shuang zhai chui but later on my teacher corrected me saying that the movement has to be smaller than how I did it and therefore it was best to stay in position (and only slightly raise the heels). Unfortunately my teacher doesn't talk much so I'm not actually aware of the reason why according to him is better to execute shuang zhai chui that way. Personally I find that if not getting up emitting force is much more difficult in that stance but there again, I still have a long way to go
In that particular posture, we come into it with a slightly higher horse, and then drop down with the exhale. There are other postures in different sets that I've seen where we start low and "pop" down like he does in this vid.
