got me to thinking that most of the stances/stepping found in traditional CMA is more appropriate weapons based fighting than empty hand. all the basic stances were present in that video.

Damn... The kendo part was really boring - like watching robots - this is why I never really got into kendo...

Kendo can be more interesting. I have a buddy who does Ito-ryu and kendo, and it really comes out in his kendo. Lots of off angle attacks. The guy is really amazing.
