Just once I'd like to see two taiji sword guys sparring where I don't get the impression that they would die in less than a second against a moderately skilled kendoka.

Yeah, but they were killed by a moderately skilled kendoka.

There seemed to be a lack of appreciation of range in that video. Maybe they just wanted to show what it was like to work in middle range.
