Well said, my friend. That's what I like about Bagua -- its wide range of options for practitioners to customize their own arts.
It's interesting to note that my Bagua teacher, with his extensive background in southern styles, gravitates toward striking and intricate hand/body methods rather than throwing. As an ex-Jujitsu and Aikido guy, I like throws and takedowns myself, so I used to always try those techniques on him and ask how he'd counter. (I was younger and dumber back then. ) Whenever we are in grappling range or a clinch, he'd just explode with powerful shoulder, elbow, or hip attacks and send me flying.
