From Yiquan Academy

Postby dacheng on Thu Jun 12, 2014 6:02 am

Just one topic for all our future posts from 意拳学院.

First some clips from this year sparring meetings.

1. Keep Balance - fixed position and free step tui shou

Unfortunately this time those more advanced students were not able to come. So, it's mostly beginners, or just starting intermediate level program, plus one I Liq Chuan practioner, one xingyi/bagua and two Yang style taijiquan practitioners (one of them got bronze medal at European Taijiquan and Internal Arts Championship organized by European Wushu Federation this May).

2. You Can Fight - light contact point fighting

This time 5 yiquan practioners and 2 chuojiao fanzi practitioners (those 2 biggest - one of them also practicing Yang style taijiquan, and participating in our tui shou events)

3. Stand Up Adventure - continuous fighting - medium to full contact depending on the age, health, fitness and skill level of participants - this time medium contact only.

People from outside Yiquan Academy didn't appear this time.

Due to hard floor, high throws were not allowed this time. However you can see a lot of projecting opponent.

I am impressed with the level of technique shown here. It is much better than I've seen in a lot if other tournaments. Thanks for sharing.

Short explanation of pingbu pingtui shi li. For most students it was just a repetition. And we had a guest from different branch of yiquan, so he could get some idea how our method differs from his.

Warning! This video is in Polish

It is 45 minutes record of explaining various variants of mental practice in the basic combat posture, with changes which are introduced at different stages of learning:

Not exactly from Yiquan Academy, but this event was organized by my kung fu brother Xie Yongguang

And by the way, last weekend Robert Kucza from Yiquan Academy in Warsaw won silver medal at European Kick Boxing Cup of WKA and WKSF federations.

Hello Dacheng
Nice push-hands clips.

Poland is one of the few countries I would love to visit and haven't. Great people and great history. In fact, I would suggest incorporating Winged Haussar equipment as the official uniform for your students and colleagues and telling anyone who asks that what you do really comes from the unarmed training of the Polish cavalry [16th-18th centuries] when they were forced to dismount in battle and fight on foot.
